Aretha Franklin

A story of collaboration between two brilliantly talented people.

Aretha Franklin is a giant of American music, admiringly known as the Queen of Soul.  In late 1966, Franklin signed to Atlantic Records, where she began recording a string of popular hits including “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)”, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”, “Think”, “Chain of Fools” and what later became her signature song, “Respect”.  She achieved 14 gold 45 White Mattes (like the two above) and 6 gold LP White Mattes.

Jerry Wexler was a music producer, and a major record industry player from the 1950s through the 1980s. He was integral in signing and/or producing Aretha Franklin, and many of the biggest acts of the last 50 years, including Ray Charles, the Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, Wilson Pickett, Dire Straits, Dusty Springfield and Bob Dylan.
