Barry White

Barry White, known for his distinctive bass voice and romantic image, had his greatest success in the 1970’s as a solo singer and with the Love Unlimited Orchestra. Here we celebrate that success with one of his biggest hits, Love’s Theme (video), released in November 1973, certified RIAA gold on 2/7/74, and reaching #1 on the Billboard charts.

This is an Authentic, First Presentation, White Matte Gold Record. However it’s Second-State because it’s been opened, re-matted, re-framed and re-papered with First-State components. I know, because I did it myself! I was confused when I first saw the award because while the presentation plate and disc were Authentic, it had been put into a black frame with a black matte (I expect to better match the decor of an office – yes that happens!). So knowing the correct RIAA format of the period would have been a White Matte, I changed it back. I rarely change awards from the condition I find them, but this time I did and here’s how it came out…
