J.J. Fad “Supersonic” 1988 RIAA Gold LP Flower Hologram Record Award

J. J. Fad gained popularity with a new line-up that included rappers: MC J.B. (Juana Burns), Baby-D (Dania Birks), and Sassy C. (Michelle Franklin). Hailing from Los Angeles, California, the group was one of the original Ruthless Records acts signed by Eazy-E. The album was produced by Dr. Dre and DJ Yella with Arabian Prince, shortly before Dre and Yella gained national fame with N.W.A.

The album “Supersonic” was released in June 1988, certified RIAA gold on 9/30/88, and reached a peak Billboard chart position of #49 (the single “Supersonic” peaked at #30). With its success, J. J. Fad became the first female rap group to earn a Grammy nomination.David Urso was a part of the fabled promotion team at Warner Bros. Records under the leadership of Russ Thyret. David went on to run promotion at Electra and Planet Records. His inscription below shares a few memories of J.J. Fad.This Flower Hologram is an authentic, First Presentation, First-State award.
