Larry Graham is best known as both the bass guitar player in the popular and influential psychedelic soul/funk band Sly & the Family Stone, and as the founder and front man of Graham Central Station.

“One In A Million You” was Larry’s first solo album on Warner Bros. Records. It was released in April of 1980, certified gold on September 24, 1980 and reached a peak Billboard Top 200 position of #9.

The award is an RIAA “Floater” which was the presentation format of the period. Usually Floaters have gold painted frames with a red undercoat, here someone gently took off the gold to expose more red.  You see this from time to time when colors of frames, or the frames themselves, are changed to better match office ambiance or decor.

Hale Milgrim held key positions at Warner Bros. Records, Electra Asylum and guided Capitol Records as President from 1989 to 1993.

The inscription remembers Larry as easy to work with, and Warner Bros. Records as a family committed to artist development.  (click to expand)

Creative Classics, and early RIAA approved awards manufacture painted their Floater frames with a red primer.

To evaluate the authenticness and condition of any award it’s best to hold it in your hands, if that is not possible, photos of the front, plate and back are most useful.
