Rolling Stones “Their Satanic Majesties Request” Gold RIAA LP White Matte

The Rolling Stones ” Their Satanic Majesties Request“, released 11/67 – certified gold 12/6/67 – and reaching a peak chart position #2, was the Stones psychedelic answer to the Beatles “Sargent Pepper.” It was notable not only for its music, but for the original album’s 3D/hologram cover.

I believe this award to be a first presentation white matte. Here’s my thinking; it has the right plate, the right sticker (see below), and the right London label which has been used since late 1965, though there have been numerous undated changes.

London Records was the home to many groups, and prior to 1971, all Rolling Stones records came out on London in the US.

The shiny plate and long dash between the words long playing were appropriate for the period.

Backing paper has been changed (not unusual for awards of this age), but the back hanging and sticker are original. Importantly, the New York Frame and Picture Co sticker has the appropriate address on Fulton St., for the time  (prior to 1969).
