Steve Perry “Street Talk” Platinum RIAA LP Floater Record Award

If only awards could talk …

What memories would they share?   What insights would we be privy to?

Steve Perry released “Street Talk” as his first solo album in April 1984. It was certified gold on June 13, 1984, platinum on July 13, 1984 and achieved a peak chart position #12.

This Floater style award was not the standard RIAA format of the period, that would have been a Strip-Plate. However it’s totally authentic and I think an example of one of the format exceptions that happens from time to time. Most likely whoever called for it requested a Floater style award, and for the Journey front man, who would object?

Michael Scurlock was an industry promotion executive who worked with a who’s who of artists and groups.
