Bruce Springsteen “The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle”
Released: 11/73
Certified Gold: 5/2/77
Peak Chart Position: 59
A small group of music lovers (a whole bunch from New Jersey) knew what was coming when they heard Bruce Springsteen’s pre Born To Run albums. His second, The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle, didn’t gain wide radio airplay, but critics paid attention. The word was spreading…
Mike Appel was Bruce’s first manager, and the producer of his first two albums. His relationship eventually ended in legal dispute as Bruce moved on to Born To Run, and the more focused production and development of Jon Landau.
“Appel is generally credited for his aggressive tactics in getting Springsteen’s career started, although his production abilities have often been criticized.” -Wikipedia
