Over two decades thousands of RIAA and In-House record awards, that hung on walls around the United States, came from Creative Glassics in New Jersey. Dan Chusid worked there for two years and shares with us his memories, pictures, and a Bruce Springsteen In-House award he made. Thanks Dan, for this unique insight.
Creative Glassics — Verona NJ –1979
“Stan (the owner) is working on an Elvis Presley (In-House) award in ’79. We replaced all of the Elvis awards for Colonel Tom Parker’s office that year.”
“Stan is at the work stations we used to assemble all the RIAA awards.” Look carefully and you’ll see three RIAA floaters to the left of the In-House Elvis Presley award being assembled in the photo above.
“The Springsteen plaque was my choice at the time when leaving Creative Glassics to move to the west coast (San Diego) in 1980. I could have selected any band or individual that we had on stock, and I hated Kansas, Meatloaf, Styx, etc. and went with Bruce. I hand assembled it myself and we had the plate inscription done at our regular engraver’s shop. In over two years at Creative Glassics, I assembled and shipped many hundreds (perhaps thousands) of RIAA awards.”
And finally when we get to the bottom, we go back to the top … the Creative Glassics sticker that commemorates where this all took place._______________________________
