At the end of 1972 Helen Reddy’s single “I am Women” exploded to #1 on the charts, making her the voice of a movement. Over the next five years she had more than a dozen top 40 hits including “Leave Me Alone (Ruby Red Dress)” which was her third to achieve RIAA Gold status.

The label is faded as is normal for awards that were displayed in sunny rooms and the staining at the bottom comes about on many awards when the glass is cleaned and the moisture seeps into the bottom of the frame.

Jeff Wald was Helen’s husband and then manager. His influence, both positive and negative, has been widely discussed. They divorced in 1983.

 

Backing paper, hanging and sticker are all original, which means this award is unopened with all original parts inside. The small New York Frame & Picture Co sticker was used on 45’s at this time (see below).
