“Who’s Making Love” was recorded by singer Johnnie Taylor and released on the Stax label in October of 1968. The RIAA certified it gold on 11/15/68.
The single was a breakthrough for Taylor, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart and #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song featured Stax in-house band Booker T. & the MG’s, and Isaac Hayes (on keyboards) and was written by Stax staffers Homer Banks, Bettye Crutcher, Don Davis and Raymond Jackson. Before the release of “Disco Lady” almost a decade later, it was Taylor’s best-selling single.
John O’Brien Dist. distributed records in the Milwaukee area from the 1950’s until the early 70’s.
The award is completely original and unopened. Backing paper, hanging and New York Frame & Picture Co sticker are exactly what you would expect on an RIAA award from this period.
To evaluate the authenticness and condition of any award it’s best to hold it in your hands, if that is not possible, photos of the front, plate and back are most useful.
