From 1958 to the early 1980’s the formats of RIAA record awards were stable, always an LP or a Single 45, with small changes in presentation plates and materials used. Beginning with Flower Holograms (1985-1989) the strict format requirements were lessened, and by 1989, with CD’s replacing LP’s in sales, and R Hologram awards increasing, a variety of format configurations became the norm (the variety of formats, also led to an increase of fake awards). Following are a few examples of authentic RIAA awards:
Warrant “Heaven” released July 14, 1989, and certified 45 gold on 9/18/89 (this must be one of the last certified 45’s)…
SWV “It’s About Time” released October 27, 1992, and certified 2X Platinum on September 01, 1993…
Reality Bites Soundtrack released February 01, 1994, and certified Platinum on June 01, 1994 (+ Lisa Loeb and Big Mountain CD’s)…
Reba “Rumor Has It” released September 04, 1990, and certified Platinum on April 01, 1991…
Elton John “Duets” November 23, 1993, and certified Platinum on January 26, 1994…
John Anderson “Seminole Wind” released February 11, 1992, and certified Platinum on December 07, 1992…
