Rolling Stones “Aftermath” Gold RIAA LP White Matte Record Award

The Stones LP “Aftermath” marked a transition to songs written by Jagger/Richards including:  “Under My Thumb”, “Lady Jane” and “Paint it Black”…“Aftermath” was released in June of 1966 and certified gold by the RIAA on August 9, 1966. It reached a peak Billboard chart position of #2.  This White Matte was the appropriate RIAA format from 1964 to 1975. While an authentic award, it is a second presentation (types of presentations ). The short dash on the presentation plate (between long and play) was not customary until 1970 through 1973.

London Records was the home to many groups, and prior to 1971 all Rolling Stones records came out on London in the US.

The backing paper appears changed, but the hanging looks original.

To evaluate the authenticness and condition of any award it’s best to hold it in your hands, if that is not possible, photos of the front, plate and back are most useful.
