The Beach Boys need no introduction, but they had one, with the release of 12 songs on their second album Surfin’ U.S.A. in April 1963. It became their first certified RIAA gold album on November 15, 1965 and reached a peak Billboard chart position of #2. Here you see it honored with an Authentic, First Presentation, First-State RIAA White Matte. RIAA frames from this early period could be darker than the frames to come…Presentations on these early awards were exclusively made to the group, not the individuals…
This award is original and untouched with the New York Frame & Picture address of 141 Fulton St. address still attached…
Thirty years later Good Vibrations: Thirty Years of The Beach Boys recapped their amazing musical career with a 1993 boxed set released by Capitol Records that contains 5 CDs, 141 songs, 40 unreleased, including 30 minutes of the most legendary unreleased album in rock: Smile. Here it is honored with Authentic, First Presentation, First-State RIAA R Hologram. Though it never charted, it went gold in the US just over four months after its release. The award is 18″ wide and 24″ high… It was designed by Tommy Steele who spent 30+ years creating packaging, advertising and marketing materials for an eclectic mix of music and artists—including the Beach Boys, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Bonnie Raitt, Tina Turner, Steve Miller Band, Foo Fighters, and the Beastie Boy. He received 6 Grammy nominations for packaging…This award is original and untouched and you can see the sticker of the manufacturer, Creative Glassics, in the lower right corner…
